“True freedom, the freedom that liberates, is grounded in truth
and ordered to truth and, therefore, to virtue. A free person
is enslaved neither to the sheer will of another nor to his own
appetites and passions. A free person lives uprightly, fulfilling
his obligations to family, community, nation and God. By contrast,
a person given over to his appetites [...]

Stupid Spammers
January 30th, 2004 · 1 Comment
Well, I got my first mass spamming today. Every single post had a comment by the same bot putting in stuff about gambling online. Very, very annoying.
I hope the mother of the person that wrote that code finds out about it, and then beats them.
Anyway, I had a wonderful experience using MT-Blacklist which [...]

Test 2 down…
January 29th, 2004 · 1 Comment
Ok, ECE 300 (Signals and Systems) test #2 is over. I think I did a decent job. I’m thinking about a 70% is where I’m going to end up. That’d be really nice.
Oh, yesterday was the Internship/Co-op Fair here at Rose. I actually think I sounded intelligent to a couple [...]

I just thought I’d drop in and say that Dilbert is great.
And that Tapestry is uber sweet. It’s a “series of RSS feeds for online comics.” I love it as it allows me to get several of my favorite comics without ever having to leave the comfort of my RSS browser.
Anyway, [...]

Condolences
January 25th, 2004 · Comments Off
Mom just called to let me know that a friend of mine’s father passed away this weekend. It wasn’t exactly a surprise as he’s been sick recently, but he was 39 years old.
So, my condolences go out to the Hill family.
There’s little I can do,
but pray for you.

And it’s gotten really, really cold in the house…should’ve turned my radiator up some before going to bed. Anyway, I’m just glad I don’t have to drive any where today…that’d not be any fun.
And now I’ve got lots of homework to do…wish me luck.

Engineering wonders…

Ok, we went over a problem in ECE 350 (Electronics and Interfacing) and Dr. Moore was doing a FET NAnd circuit analysis. At one point there is a voltage loss caused by something (no appearent current changes), what is that something? As Dr. Moore put it:
“The only answer I can give you, and you’re [...]

Happy Chinese New Year!
January 21st, 2004 · 2 Comments
Yeah, I was just looking at the calendar and saw that…thought I’d let you know.
Anyone know what animal this is the year of? I’d search it, but I just finished the homework that’s due, so I’m going to bed. I’ll do the other problems tomorrow to get more practice.

Validated

Ok, today was awesome.
Why?
(Shortened version: Today was a good day, and I feel great about myself. Thanks to seeing two speakers today, I feel that coming to Rose-Hulman and pursuing a computer engineering degree are validated.)
Now, let’s begin.
I got to sleep in an hour today, and it was great. [...]
