Winter came a little early this year. I’ve had to clean several inches of snow off of my car twice this week. Luckily it’s supposed to warm up this weekend, so the hope is that it’ll melt away before Monday. I don’t want snow on the ground from now until March…it gets ugly and icky too quickly to want it to stick around.
Life is busy…I’ve spoken with Miki from Leadership Turn and she’s agreed to help me with some leadership training via phone. I need to finish my list of 5 goals. I’ve spent just over a week on them and I’ve got 3 goals that are feasible and 1 that’s probably doable. I’m having trouble forming a fifth goal. Here’s what I’ve got so far:
1) Institute Masonic learning
a) have quarterly masonic information sessions
b) something at monthly meeting
2) Create the ability to work with other Lodges in the area for various events
a) Have an event with Carmel, Whitestown, Lebannon Lodges
b) get more information for involvement with social activities at appendant bodies, but not degree/ritual work
3) Incease Communication
a) Quarterly mailing of some sort (cost? - need to ask Jerrit current member mailing list size to see what needed costs are)
b) Weekly/bi-weekly/monthly email list - how much is too much and what should go into each one?
4) More “brotherhood” events - not degree work, not practice, but social time
a) party?
b) get together at local pub?
c) family involvement?
d) how often?
e) make it community event?
See I’ve got a solid set of ideas that I need to hash out. I’d like to have something about recruitment, but the time, effort, and skills needed to recruit people is beyond me at the moment. So I don’t know how to form the goals necessary to make that work.
I’ve got my company Christmas Party tonight, tomorrow morning is Murat Shrine Ceremonial, and then I’ve got to spend time getting the paperwork that’s piled up in my apartment taken care of. I’ve got dues notices from several of my groups that need to be paid, some tax information that needs to be verified, and just general cleaning up of the mess of paperwork on my counter. Hopefully I’ll have enough energy on Saturday to get it all put away. We’ll see how that turns out.

Just like the ones I used to know..
