My life and the world as I see it. It’ll mostly be a place for me to gripe and friends to keep up with me.

Don’t I look good?

by @ 10:47 pm on June 11, 2006.

Well, it’s Sunday night. I took nearly 3 hours to do laundry this evening because it seems that everyone in the apartment complex decided to do laundy tonight as well. Oh, well.

While waiting for my laundry to finish I tried to call Mamaw and Papaw, but their phone was busy each time I tried. I got to talk to Mom for a little bit. I left messages for Sherry D. S. and Ambelina. They should think I’m a little off in the head.

But I did get to spend some time on the phone with Jamie-Love. That was fun.

In other news my lodge decided to raise dues by $5.00 for next year…I had hoped for a $10 raise in dues, but it wasn’t in the works to get the voters in the room to go for that. I think it would’ve been very close if we had put the $10 raise to a vote, but others thought it more prudent to speed up the process and go for $5. Seems no one wanted to really spend an hour or more dickering over an extra $5 a person. We’ll see what next year brings us for dues raises…it’s just getting too expensive to keep the lodge building heated/cooled/electrified through the year. It won’t be long before we have to push much higher than that.

Arguments abound on why we should and why we shouldn’t raise dues. I’m of the opinion that for a yearly rate it isn’t that bad…I pay much more for my monthly cable and cable internet access than I pay for a year’s worth of dues at my lodge. For that matter, I pay about the same for cable/cable internet in 3 months than I pay for all of my Masonic membership dues (2 blue lodges, York Rite, Scottish Rite, and Shrine). And I would say that I could downgrade my cable service before I would remove any of my Masonic memberships. I guess I just value this private group more than some.

On to a fun note. Last Thursday was our stated monthly meeting and as an officer I’m supposed to wear our lodge polo shirt which is black with dark blue sides. Anyway, I wore that with black slacks and my black cowboy hat. I was damn good looking as you can see here:

Boy, I sure do look good. ;)

And to make the weekend even more fun I joined the Murat Shrine on Saturday, June 10, 2006. This is the 130th year of the Ancient Arabic Order, Nobles of the Mystic Shrine (A.A.O.N.M.S.) and so that makes it nice and special. Here’s a picture of my nifty fez:

And no, I don’t plan to start driving a miniture car any time soon.

I used to go to my grandfather’s shriner club for holidays when I was younger. I always thought you had to be really old to be one. You’re only a bit older than me, but I’m much wiser ; )! Old man, haha!

I’m thinking it would be dangerous for any bystander if they let him drive a midget car!
