I never realized just how much I liked a simple auto-save system. Gmail has been automatically saving any drafts (and deleteing them when sent) of any e-mail that I send through the system.
I didn’t realize just how wonderful that was until I accidentally closed my browser tab for Gmail while in the middle of an e-mail. Then I open up Gmail again and there’s my e-mail ready to go.
Now, I know auto-save is nothing new. It’s just having an auto-save that’s so very simple. MS Word does the whole thingy-ma-bob during a document recovery. It’s never a clean and perfect save. It’s like it’s trying to do all kinds of things to destroy your doc instead of just giving you the most recent auto-save. That’s why I have auto-save…so I can get a perfect copy every 5 minutes. Of course, it sucks when at 4min. 30 sec. your Word craps out, but at least when the perfect save comes up I don’t have to worry about what weird changes may have slipped into my tables or headers.
Anyway, just wanted to let you know that I prefer simple auto-save over the long drawn out and confusing version that Word uses.
Oh, and I’m alive…just for anyone wondering.

Much better, it was not working properly last night. And auto-save is not that difficult!
