I just read something on Blogs for Bush (which I read, but I’m intelligent enough to be able to filter out some of the political retoric) and it makes me ask, “So why isn’t the suspect dead?”
The post cites a story from Halifax, Canada, and says that an armed robbery suspect attacked police off icers with a knife and one of the officers fired 5 times.
The officer only hit his mark 3 times and still didn’t kill the man. The suspect says that only 2 shots were necessary to control the situation and the others were “were unlawful.”
So I say, “Why’s the suspect alive?” I’m thinking the Halifax courts and citizens need to be more concerned about the officer training and what firearm the officers are carrying that lets a target take 3 shots (at, I’m assuming, close range) and still be able to sue the police at a later date.
Baffles the mind it does.
