Just watched Return of the King Extended Edition.
The new stuff and the extended scenes are well worth the extra 50 minutes of movie. I wish they had done it this way the first time around. Oh, well.
Saruman’s death scene is spectacular. The new scenes with the Dimwalt (SP?) forces are really cool.
The only thing that is a total let down is they still don’t have anything at all in there about the scourging of the Shire. That makes me unhappy, but the movie works out either way.
Oh, and I caught a continuity error. 
If you see the extended edition, let me know what you think about Gandalf’s staff in the farewell scene.

I’m planning on doing a LOTR marathon with some friends, but first we’ll have to get our hands on ‘em DVDs.

Guess what I got as a New Year’s present? Yeah!!! (Well, it’s not the extended edition, but still…) And my brotha got LOTR2, so all that keeps us from having that marathon is Part One.

But that’s 12 hours or so worth of movie…so I guess you could call it a night if you started as soon as night did.
