Ok, so it’s been a busy weekend.
Friday night and most of Saturday was spent with the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute of the Northern Jurisdiction. Who bestowed upon my classmates and I the 32nd degree of Scottish Rite Freemasonry. It was really, really interesting degree work. Highly enjoyable. Maybe once I settle down I’ll be able to take part in the productions as it takes approximately 300 people to put on a full degree convocation (from the 4th to the 32nd inclusive) which in Terre Haute includes huge amounts of costumes, interesting stage drops, stage props, powerful sound system…or to simplify a full stage crew and play production department. We’ve got some really cool stuff.
Anyway, that was interesting…especially since I was the youngest by several years…I’m thinking in the 5 to 7 year range.
Saturday evening was spent with Dad, Jerm, Pat (Jerm’s friend), and Lissa (who documented the night here) who all joined us at the local Shriners’ Temple for a banquet. The banquet lasted longer than expected, so Jerm, Pat, and Lissa took off with plenty of time to walk to the 2ish blocks into the Hulman Center for the concert.
Dad and I stuck around for the presentation after the food. One of the state officers for the Indiana valleys was there and made a nice speech. Several other people had things to say, and it was overall a good night.
Then we hurried out to the truck and I changed to be in concert clothes. And we made it in to hear most of Gretchin Wilson’s set. Which was good…I’m not that big of a fan, but man can she sing. Plus, she’s got some songs with caused some nice looking Redneck women to stand up a couple rows in front of us and do a little dancing (a little because we were in the slip, fall, and die area).
Then Big and Rich came on…wow. Those fellas know how to have fun. Their music can hits just about every emotion and they know how to put on a show to top it off. They had a little jam session at the end…by that time “country music” wasn’t the point: MUSIC was. Big and Rich had their friends on stage and just had one hellova time. I can only imagine what it’s like to hang out with people like that all of the time.
Anyway, spent Sunday working Senior Design…got an interim report due Tuesday at noon. Argh. We’ve got a decent draft now…hopefully we can get it edited decently tomorrow and get a good grade. I can’t afford a “C” in this class…I need at least a “B.” I suppose I’m going to have to dump a lot of time into the damn thing next quarter…let’s hope that ECE380 (Discrete systems - a continuation of the ECE300 Signals stuff) doesn’t need toooooo many hours.

I read, and liked Lissa’s write up on the concert. Just make sure she knows to tell us when she decides to get up on stage and sing like she promised. That way we can all get a front row seat.

There shalt be *no* singing! Me singing would break something. Like people’s eardrums.
And I *didn’t* promise! Arg! Between you and Luke, I just can’t win!
