Is it ok to crash an interview slot?

by @ 11:31 pm on October 21, 2004.

Ok, DigitalNet is having interviews tomorrow. I checked their online schedule and they have two open time slots.

Is it ok to just show up and hope they’ll talk to me? Or should I not go? L, Midget, and Dr. 7 thinks I should go.

I was totally gunghoe about going, but then I got to thinking, “I don’t know which position I really, really want, so is it worth showing up and accidentally looking like a fool?”

L still says yes and I think I agree. I checked through 90% of their positions and the ones on the net are either for people looking for career advancement with years of experience or for the guy straight out of high school (or similar) meaning that there is the whole entry level college type jobs that must exist if they’re here at Rose…otherwise why waste your time coming to a college if you only have jobs they’re either way overqualified or underqalified for? (Thanks to L for pointing that out.)

So I think I’m going, unless I make myself extremely nervous and sick before tomorrow when I plan to go in.

Sigh. So much running through my head and so little information to go on, and argh. I need a time machine-thingy so I can see into the future and just know where I should work and what I should do.

Oh, well. There’s a path laid out for me, so I’ll just keep looking and trying to follow it.

“There’s a path laid out for me”? Hmm. Interesting…

Yay for bogarting job interviews. Don’t be nervous and don’t make yourself ill. Be the Universal Charmer (*smirk*), be cool (as in calm and collected), and you’ll get your foot in the door.

Think “Listen up, b’s.” Act comfortable, like you have just as much a right to be there to get an interview as the others. The confidence will be helpful in avoiding getting steamrolled.

Don’t fret too much over clothing, either. You said they’re a business casual company, so dress business casual and think nothing else of it (I’ve heard about your tendency to fret over clothing…). Others may/will be dressed in business suits, some will also be business casual, so pick one and stick by your guns because both are valid choices.

And since I won’t see you before then, good luck and don’t panic and don’t forecast overly much, should you get an interview (”They only asked x questions?! Argh!”–pfbfbt, to some extent).
