Wow…I can’t believe it’s been nearly a week and half since I posted anything…
Anyway, I’ve been home since late Monday night. I got home later than I expected because I had to buy yet another new tire. Why you ask? Because I destroyed one.
Sigh. As it goes I was piddling around on Saturday getting my bookcase spray painted to hide the rust. So I start that…and low and behold I was about a can of paint short. So I put the bookcase back in my apartment…after it had some time to dry and me put around the net for a while. Then head to Big Lots for more paint. Get that taken care of just fine. I then decide that I should have a little bit of cash…the single George Washington in my wallet was lonely and I was going to be driving home soon.
So I drive into the mall and, WAM!, I hear this loud pop and then “Hisssssssssssssssssssss!?!” So I pull into the bank parking lot because it’s within a couple of yards and I get to a flat space to get out. I walk around to the back passenger side and watch my tire deflate. Sigh. From pop to empty was about 2 minutes…I knew it was bad.
Put on the spare tire and check over the flat tire…and there was a decent visible rip/cut in the tread. I think there’s a chance it can be repaired, so I go ahead and get my cash before heading to Firestone to get it fixed. I get to Firestone at 5:02pm. Guess when they close? That’s right…2 minutes before I got there. Oh, well.
Monday I head in and the guy looks at my tire and says it’s most likely going to be cheaper to just buy a new one. Turns out he was right especially after he gave me a bit of a discount…becuase this makes 5 tires in the last year that I’ve bought from them. Anyway, turns out whatever road hazard hit my tire worked one hell of a cut on the inside and it was pretty much destroyed.
On a good note for the weekend, I got the Thorn computer equipment partially setup in the office and I had fun with three of my Brothers at the Indiana Masonic Home Festival. I’ll talk about that later and show some of the pics. Let’s just say when we have a parade there’re a crap load of Shriners in parade formation.
Anyway, I’m home until the 31st…I’ll be back to school that evening and will prolly post more then. School starts on Sept. 2 and they’ve already made a change to my schedule.
