Luke says Moo!

My life and the world as I see it. It’ll mostly be a place for me to gripe and friends to keep up with me.

Neighbors

Ok, I’ve got a story about my neighbors.

For a while the house next to us had people living in it with many children, and then one day they all disappeared. The house was dilapidated, so we assumed they simply had to move. Anyway, a few weeks/month later a van starts showing up on a regular basis and a dumpster shows up in the back yard. All kinds of crap gets thrown away, windows get fixed, and it looks like it’s livable.

Well, in February new people move in. They’re your typical “white trash” types…extra vehicles that we’re not sure run, a Winnebago that looks like it’s older than the dirt, 2 dogs and so on. Anyway, no big problem, until they decide they want to park 3 large vehicles in the front of their house.

Normally that wouldn’t be a problem, but their parking seems to be part of our parking. Anyway, the woman of the household decides to bother my housemate (M) and I about both of us parking there as she believes we are parking too close to her house. M informs me that we can’t pull any further up because then we’ll be parking illegally due to the Stop sign.

Anyway, this goes on, and we both park by the house sometimes and other times one of us parks in the Kroger parking lot.

As it goes on occasion when we both park by the house there ends up being some sort of extra vehicle on either side of the road in front of their house.

Now comes the kicker. You’re prolly gonna say, “You deserved what you got.” But oh, well.

Yesterday the neighbors decided it would be a good idea to burn leaves, limbs, and various other bits of yard waste while there is a decently strong wind going. So where does the smoke and stuff go? My house…more specifically my side of the house and it causes my eyes to itch and allergies start to flare up. Thus, I call my landlord about a couple other things and mention that my neighbors are burning things. She says that’s illegal inside city limits and suggests that I call the police as she doesn’t know who else to report to.

Well, I called the police they showed up and did whatever.

Now comes to the part that made me grumpy. I came home from school today and parked behind M on the street leaving more than enough room for them to park behind me and leave enough space for me to get out.

What do they do? They pull the truck up to about a foot of my bumper, and pull their van up close enough to the truck to make it difficult to back up. Thus I go looking for M to pull his car up so I can pull out. No luck; it appeared as if he was on a walk with is Iguana. So, I have to wait for a few minutes as I wait for the woman of the household to go inside to talk to the guy outside. The woman was irate and talking loudly, but not loudly enough to be heard over the truck being moved; however, she kept muttering about moving the cars up, and giving her dirty looks. If she wants dirty looks I can give her dirty looks, but I am a little more civilized than that…I’ll bash her on my blog.

The part that pisses me off most about today was that before dealing with her I was “on.” I wrote a wonderful paper for my Contemporary American Fiction class and I wrote the best part of it in an hour this afternoon. I found out that I’ve got at least a 70 on my Operating Systems test. I felt good, and I was going to get work done. After that encounter I was spent from being nervous about dealing with a “crazy lady” and how I’ve got to be here for another 6 weeks.

Sigh. So I went for a 2 hour walk…I fell much better if a little bit sore.

You need a midget named Sam with a shotgun :-) That takes care of crazy white trash people trying to mess with your stuff. Or at least Leon thinks it will!

I find it amusing that they are just burning things at will. I hope things get better, at least you only have to deal with them for a little while longer. You could always come sleep on my couch, oh wait, you do that anyways, hehe!
