Ok, today was awesome.
Why?
(Shortened version: Today was a good day, and I feel great about myself. Thanks to seeing two speakers today, I feel that coming to Rose-Hulman and pursuing a computer engineering degree are validated.)
Now, let’s begin.
I got to sleep in an hour today, and it was great. (Making this a generally good day.)
During my shift at the HelpDesk, I had one problem come in and it took me 30 seconds to get someone else to take care of it.
Then in ECE 300 I actually understood what was going on…if that’s not great I don’t know what is.
Now, the really important part of today was in ECE 362 (design something-or-the-other) and we had a speaker. I arrived late, because I had forgotten to print some documents. Anyway, this guy is going on about how our most useful skills coming out of Rose may not be our engineering skills, but the management and project work we are capable of. Not only that, but apparently with our “training” in sleep deprivation we’re able to work harder for longer times, when others have trouble functioning completely.
Then, I took an hour to get myself straightened out and then went to talk to Prof. Ferguson about homework I screwed up. He scrapped everything I did last night and told me to start all over (really, he marked out 90% of what I did last night). I did…and I finished in about 3 hours. It’s nice to have actually finished an assignment completely.
And to finish the day at school I went and heard Dr. Tim Greene from University of Alabama (Dean of Engineering, I think) give his spiel about why he would be a good president at Rose. (FYI: Our current president, Samuel Hulbert, will be retiring in June)
This evening has been nothing but ECE 300 homework and lab. I should finish my ECE 350 lab memo before going to bed, but I think I’ll finish it tomorrow at school. Let’s hope it’s not busy at work, so I can get done.
Wow, these posts just seem to be getting longer and longer.
